Cinesorriso Connection: When Books Make You Smile (and Think)
As part of the Mediterranean Culture Festival, we had the pleasure of meeting Yuri Tuci and Lorenzo Clemente, authors of Caregiver Motherfucker!, a book written with four hands, many kilometres, and a healthy dose of irony.
Between Italian cemeteries, unlikely adventures and memorable encounters, the story follows Yuri’s journey as an autistic actor and the experiences of those who shared this adventure with him, both on and off the stage. As the back cover warns: this is not a book about autism. Nor is it an uplifting book.
Yuri also received the Cinesorriso Award 2026 for La Vita da Grandi. His presence at the festival drew a full house, earned warm applause, and spread smiles in generous abundance.
Our thanks to Yuri and Lorenzo for reminding us that life can be told without taking ourselves too seriously. In fact, perhaps that is precisely how it is told best.
